Gari

Gari (also known as Chloe Villamayor) is a Filipino-American interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles, whose work explores the role of the body in physicalizing the internal, intangible, and ephemeral. Her eclectic art-pop sound hybridizes classical composition training, hook-driven singer-songwriter sensibilities, experimental vocal techniques, and custom gesture-controlled technology with Max MSP programming.

Her debut album, Is it mine? If my name was ___, is it mine? (2024) is an introspective genre-fluid work featuring gritty yet delicate vocals, electroacoustic soundscapes blending chamber ensembles and digital synths, and a two-part dance music video series in collaboration with Movement in Motion Collective.

Outside of Gari, Chloe is a music educator, performer, and academic. She is performing as the violinist/vocalist for the performance art piece, “This Entry,” by Tino Seghal at LACMA, is a music production and composition educator with the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra, and is currently pursuing an M.M. in Composition at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.

Chloe graduated from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music in 2025 with a B.M. in Composition, studying under Ted Hearne, Nina Young, Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother), and Tom Hall.
